Anyone who knows me knows that the Kingsmead Book Fair is my favourite book fair. Why, you ask? Well, two things. Firstly, it’s at a school. I love that learners are so deeply involved in creating and engaging in a thriving literary culture that forms such an important part of Johannesburg’s literary ecosystem. Secondly, the day consists of fresh and vibrant programmes for children (here), young adult (YA: here) and adult readers (here). There are so many yummy food vendors and a range of beverages that it’s just an all-round great day out for the whole family. If you haven’t been, I really think you should be there. The best part about this year is that it’s my third time as a participant and I AM ON THE LINE-UP FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS. I think that’s very cool and I’m rather proud of myself. We’re going to have so much fun. So, here’s the info you need to make note of:
- I’m reading/playing through the Mpumi books (there are 5 titles) at 09:30 – 10:30. Children (under 12) have entry to all children’s programme sessions for R100. Tickets can be purchased: here.
- I’ll be on a panel moderated by Lorainne Sithole at 11:00 – 12:00 for The Soft Life. Tickets can be purchased: here.
- Adults need to purchase an entry ticket PLUS whatever session tickets on the adult programme. Those can be purchased: here.
Thank you for the invitation, Kingsmead College. Happy 90th birthday!
